1. Personal Background She was born in Australia in 1980 with a Lebanese cultural background. She finished high school in Sydney and studied Education at Sydney University and went on to become a high school teacher at Chester Hill for almost 8 years before taking the leap to follow my dream and heart to pursue my love for photography. At the time she didn’t know she wanted to do newborns, She just wanted to photograph everything and anything. So 7 years ago she took a photography class to learn the basics of using an SLR and her best friend was pregnant at the time and she just offered to take photos of her baby.. and that’s when sandra's journey began.
2. Visual Characteristics: My artist believes in her style being is unique to her. Her newborn seasons have a timeless feel yet my use of color and props make it special and unique to every baby. Sandra have been shooting for 6 years and has never done the same set up. She likes to keep it special for each baby. Inspirations of hers when I was younger was Anne Geddes. She always managed to make her smile as a young girl the way she would photograph them in such unique ways. Sandra has just added a modern twist to those kinds of images.
3. Major ideas: Sandra's philosophy is that moments of capturing newborns doesn’t last very long. They are not that small and curly for very long. So it’s important to capture those memories and keep that stage a fresh memory forever! So her starting her Business has allowed me to make many amazing memories for many families that they will hold dear to them for many years and generations. The smiles she gets out of people is what she likes the most just making a family happy.
4.Influences- This photographer has gave me the opportunity to photography kids. Not only just any kids she has showed me some roots to photographing the young. When i seen ms sandra's work I instanly feel in love with the babies she photograph so I thought why not photograph my own.I see babies everyday out and never thought someone could make a real living off photographing the young. This is how ms sandra's work was able to influence me.
6.Compare and Contrast- Picture 1:In her art work you see probably a father and his daughter he is kissing her trying to show the general idea of love to his child. My picture also shows a man kissing a child but it is my cousin and my dad. This recreation was the best to me.It was the closest recreation to the actual photo. We were not able to find a white collard shirt so i decided to tell him to just wear a white shirt.
Picture 2.In this artwork a man is holding his baby over his chest showing love once again for his baby. The positioning of is different because my dad is looking at the camera meanwhile in hers the parent is looking down. The center of interest is the baby in the picture. She is a baby photographer so this is what shows that the baby is the center of attention. This stregnth's in this picture are the general idea and the wrapping of the baby.
picture 3. In her artwork you see a male holding a baby again depicting love towards the child.I think this one was the hardest to picture because she in a studio and i was in my home.So in hers her subject is sleep and mines was to until i had to use some form of light so i had to take a different route in taking my picture.By having the father or male figure hold the baby so tight and close this just shows the love for the baby. The white background makes subject stand out and shows them as the center of attention.
7.Personal artist statement-In my photos i work very hard to edit and show the shades and same features as my photographers.I cropped and edited and used my levels to get the pictures the same.I got my picture lined up with the rule of thirds. My pictures also show the love just how sandra's do.All in all i think i was able to provide the general idea of the pictures and get over my struggles.
